Standing Crimson, oil on canvas on board, 122cm x 183cm (1/12 series)
Hey pals! I’m April Jackson and these are my paintings for all those that are unfamiliar with my work! This work was produced and developed throughout my BA Fine Art last year (My Graduation is in two weeks woo!)
As a painter and printmaker, my recent endeavour of large-scale, body-sized paintings relies on the process of pouring, soaking and staining the canvas, creating abstract forms that interrelate and communicate. They investigate binary oppositions, the thresholds between paint and surface, form and fluidity and the autonomy of painting. My works are in series, developing a pictorial language specific to process and materiality. My practise is fed from a multitude of preliminary work; producing small scale paintings, pastels, photography and Photoshop and prints.
