My name is James Sirrell and I am an artist studying my MA at Chelsea College of Art. I’m interested in desire, spirituality and agency in objects and images.
Recently I have been working with cyanotypes, making blue prints from still frames taken from 60’s 8mm stag films. I enjoy the process of making, I enjoy being hands on, which is perhaps why I enjoy the process of making with obsolescent media. There is an action, a process and a relationship that doesn’t exist in the same way with digital media. This relationship is important to me and the relation between artworks is becoming increasingly important aswell.
