I am a Finnish installation artist and sculptor, currently working with site-specific projects realized and documented outside the art studio in natural, rural environments. I work mainly with ceramics but I also work and experiment with wood and metal, combining these materials with elements of water, ice and salt. My current practice involves working with concepts of fragility, impermanence, metamorphosis and transformation as my recent installation projects change and decay over time due to natural processes such as erosion. I am highly interested in geological history of the environments I work at and the often negative human impact on them which I address via the chosen materials and composition of the work. In installation projects realized in the studio environment I use also film and sound which have been recorded at the sites, attempting to bring a piece of the specific, chosen landscape I am working with into the studio environment.
