Seeing this comic strip about conflicts in literature I started relating this with visual arts and how relevant is with today’s contemporary art world. I reckon this conflict refers to the different drives of the characters or forces involved. Either an internal conflict or an external that may speaks the socio-cultural trends of each era. This conflict can be between two types of characters (protagonist an antagonist). Through this strip I can see the cultural transience in the triptychs:

Nature-society-technology
Man-self-Reality
God-No god-Author

But is conflict necessary to keep the interest and how is this going to evolve? Do we need a Deus ex Machina in order to confront reality? Is that the author, technology or both? However, conflicting those ideas , we are going stepping in other problems that are always challenging each era’s contemporary society.
