I’ve been returning to drawing as a thinking process. I have many interests and so it is a useful place to explore these in a free form way, which can generate networks of ideas to record and create thought processes and networks of fragmented ideas.
Using this way of working I can use the artistic process as a kind of laboratory or experimental space to investigate how different aspects link together, and see how I am thinking.
I also find drawing to be a direct and joyful process, which is both simple and complex, and through which I can make propositions which could be the starting point of interesting dialogues or conversations. They are democratized in a way, as well as being authentic and of a moment.
The media I choose are what I would describe as every day or humble – I want, in this way of working, to move away from a ‘valued’ or ‘precious’ item as such, focusing on and overlaying the ideas in flux.
