Photographer Lamisa Khan and artists Zeinab Saleh and Sara Gulamali, aim to promote the visibility of ‘normal’ Muslim women in London. A group often underrepresented and misrepresented as a result of reductive media representations and unhelpful comments from influential individuals. The trio felt that Muslim women were either viewed as oppressed or only celebrated as ‘stereotype breakers’ and so the Muslim Sisterhood was established to capture, ‘normal Muslim girls who aren’t bloggers, fashionistas or “Stereotype breakers”.’
